Looks a bit stiff to operate the bolt. Take a look at the Beretta BRX1 and the NATO Standard testing of that rifle. It's amazing.

Nice rifle ! I have never been able to handle one so far but feedbacks are good. Can't wait to see you testing it on target. Its locking system is the same than the Heym SR30 that was released in the middle of 90's to compete the famous Blaser R93. Straight pull action rifles are very fashion in Europe and the leader remains Blaser but more and more brands offer this system and especially in Europe. Nowadays for hunting rifles, we also find Chapuis, Rossler (the ancient Mauser M96), Heym, Haenel, Beretta, Lynx, Verney-Carron, Strasser, Merkel, Browning, Steel Action and the Savage of course. I own an old Steyr Mannlicher M95 carbine in 8x56r, and to tell the truth I don't fully trust straight pull rifles.

I guess wit 18” barrel will bringer it closer to 308 but it wud be a great bush rifle with a bit more energy in target than 308.

I own a Merkel Helix in 30-06. Love the straight pull, although my much cheaper Remington pump is still faster to cycle.

Savage does make a good gun. Seen it in military gun's.

Those straight pulls sketch me out. What if the locking mechanism breaks? You will have a bolt in the eye.

I'm right-handed but have to shoot left-handed due to being blind in my right eye. I've always wanted to try a left-handed rifle. Maybe this is it.

Impulse Hunter is $1400 MSRP. I can't find one in 30-06 at any Big Box Sporting Goods store. Cabelas has the Big Game on clearance at $900 but not in 30-06, only .243 Win, 308 Win and 6.5 Creedmoor.

Not left handed but left eyed,,,was right handed ,left eyed,soooo shot left handed,,,then came the day went blind in left eye,,,soo now am right eyed as well,,,still in a rush will pick up a long gun left handed……

I like it depending on accuracy.

I picked up this exact rifle package last year…I was almost shocked how accurate it was right out of the box. I added a cheek riser and stiffened the stock with epoxy and it made it even better.

Now I want one!

I like it but isn't this one a little pricey for a savage.🤔 I had a straight pull military rifle years ago. Isnt this ambidextrous. Can you change the handle to either side. I'm interested in the velocities from the 30-06 in the 18 inch barrel. Can you chronograph the loads you will be testing .Thanks for sharing 😊 love the channel 😊
